Knowledge Sharing Foundation
The
concept of a knowledge sharing foundation is expressed at *<*>
This concept, as are all the concepts that have been expressed through
me, is a straw man. The expression of these concepts is to get
others thinking about what might be. Like sub-stratum generated
language, this is something that would work, but I am neutral on
whether it or some other equivalence is moved forward.
The use of something like the KSF could be directed at "bringing voices
to the table". The KSF would be a means to allow new work to be
given into an emerging structure in much the same way as mathematics
evolved. There was never an ownership reward for mathematical
innovation, and yet mathematics is arguably the most important of all
human cultural artifacts. Computer science must be unowned.
The one known sub-stratum generated
language specification would be a good
start in creating a single structurally coherent partition of the
Internet, what we called a safeNet. No porn, no spam, no
advertising, no invasion of privacy.
The opposition to this is real, and so funding is not really the core
issue. The core issue is that the federal government must see the
need to pass laws requiring a safeNet for medical transactions, a
safeNet for commerce, and a safeNet for private communications.
The immediate value to America in in the trillions of dollars.
The full value is in real quality of life, and is measured in many many
needless deaths and suffering.
This system must be demand side in nature so that any individual using
the system has the immediate knowledge of the system. This means
that the demand side technology must be public domain and be fully
integrated into the entire educational system. It must be owned
by the People, with a trust provided to the U.S. government.
Of course, this is not socialism or anything like socialism. The
safeNet would be the ground floor to the greatest achievement of mature
capitalism. Like the public highway system, privately owned cars
and products would move un restricted.
I disagree with the statement that sub-stratum
generated language has not been
founded in the great dialog of current software use. It is a remarkable
piece of computer science. G. has been a good friend and champion
for us at Intell Corp. But he like A.O. (DARPA) is embedded in
the old system, and are trying to see how the old system may produce
something that is unlike what we now have.
The old system can not give birth to a demand side computing
infrastructure. This birth must come from the needs of the
current social world. It must be protected from a sort of
fundamentalism, a fundamentalism that demands no ownership in common by
the People, and thus no protection of the people from the
predation that is obvious to everyone. This is the same
fundamentalism that profited so completely in the lead-up to the
financial crisis.
As for me, I struggle with small matters in educational reform and in
my private effort to found some process that overcomes the same
fundamentalism everywhere experienced in our colleges and
universities. Some assistance in this area would be
helpful.
